The Energy Bill Revolution has launched a video parodying politicians for their failure to tackle fuel poverty.
The video, produced by award winning production company Don’t Panic, shows the leaders of the main political parties singing along to a song similar to “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel made famous in the Disney film Frozen.
All major party leaders are included in the video. This is because the Government’s energy efficiency policies are failing badly and no major party has yet committed to provide the investment needed to end fuel poverty.
All of these parties committed to end fuel poverty when they supported the passage of the Warm Homes Act through Parliament in 2000. The aim of this Act was t eliminate fuel poverty by 2016. Fifteen years later there are still millions of families in fuel poverty, with thousands dying every winter from living in cold homes.
The Energy Bill Revolution will continue to press all political parties to commit to use infrastructure funds to help make 2 million low income homes highly energy efficient by 2020.
The video was commissioned by the Energy Bill Revolution secretariat only and is not an alliance production.
